Friday Five: Gadget Girl

Here are some of my most wanted gadgets from Think Geek.

1. Jot Stylus  - I have been looking for a fine point stylus for a minute and I am in love this this one.  I am a huge fan on calligraphy and I feel like this stylus would be perfect for my handwriting and such.

2. Star Trek Enterprise Pizza Cutter - My dad is a trekkie and I am also a trekkie and I looooove pizza so is any further explanation needed?

3. Tetris Stackable LED Desk Lamp - Who could hate on this classic?

4. Bluetooth Handset Gloves - I want to walk around and act like I did as a child acting like I was on the phone but this time around it would actually be someone really talking to me.

5. ForkChops 3-in-1 Eating Utensils - This would be so perfect for the fatty in me.  It works both ways and I love the concept of this gadget.

Friday Five: Youtube Currents

Hello folks! 

Sorry about the long period between posts. I have been working like a madwoman at my job and planning for future events and running meetings. I hardly had the time to set up some drafts to release for the week. My weekend is packed as well but I will have some more consistent material coming out.  Because I am working on a web series myself and a personal channel, the theme for this week's Friday Friday are Youtube Currents.  These are videos that caught me at some point this week and I cannot help but hit replay.  

How animals eat their food by Mister Epic Man - A find through my old schoolmate Richard's facebook. This video is so simple and hilarious, I go back to watch over and over.

Woodkid's Iron [Youtube Page] - I am starting to get into Woodkid.  I saw my friend Asabi post this on Facebook and was instantly amazed by how visually stunning the video is. The song has such powerful instrumentals as well. I just love it.

Afrotaku: Women in Anime by The [bfp] Guys - Of course I had to shout of my BFP family and I love the new format of our Afrotaku series. I particularly like this episode because we we discuss the portrayal of women in anime. I got to chime in as well.

Episode 4: Marissa Gets Flustered by TagentTimeTV - So while I was perusing @MindyKaling's twitter and she tweeted about an episode of this webseries. I love the raw edge and honesty in it as well as the subtle comedy.  The internet is truly taking over television.  I will definitely be checking out the rest of this show.

The Number s2e3: The Slumberette Party by Black&SexyTV -  I CANNOT forget my Black and Sexy  TV channel!  I live for their series.  This episode of The Number had a super crossover with all of the other shows and the theme for the episode was awesome. I definitely want to do host a Slumberette party for my for my future bachelorette party.  This episode was good and funny, I'm just mad that we still don't know Melissa's number. hah.

Friday Five: The Senses

Remember learning about the five senses in school and how each of them affected you?  Really takes me back!

• What is the most beautiful thing that you have ever laid eyes on?
• I would have to say, the ocean at night when the moon disappears.  You can see the waves crashing against the shore but then further out lies a pitch black "wall" and all you can hear are the motions.  It makes me feel so small. Nature is beautiful and scary at the same time.
• What is your favorite scent?
• My favorite natural scent is lavender and favorite harvested scent is Egyptian Musk.
• What is the strangest object that you've ever felt?
• I grew up in Virginia Beach, close to marine life. A jellyfish without tentacles is the strangest thing that I have felt.  I was a kid and my father's best friend used to find these jellyfish and collect them for the day. He told my sister and I that they were "moonfish" so that we wouldn't freak out thinking that we would get stung. They are 90% water and harmless but they are so soft and slimy. Ick haha. Almost twenty years later and it's still fresh in my memory.
• What is something you crave for so much, that you can actually taste it from time to time from memory?
• Reoccurring craving: pepperoni pan pizza. I can taste each ingredient separately and together every time I have the craving.
• Random craving: Thai orange duck with hot chilies.  I had this for the first time back in 2005 and have been looking for a similar or greater taste ever sense. It is a vivid sensory memory.   
• What is the funniest sound that you have ever heard?
• The most annoying sound in the world from "Dumb and Dumber".  I crack up so hard every time.

Friday Five: Guilty Pleasures

My colleague Rob and I spoke on my Friday Five posts that I started.  The idea behind FF derived from my LiveJournal blogging days when a moderator would give out a topic with one or several categories and the group would participate by giving their own responses. It was quite neat to see what everyone had to say. The categories are food, TV, a hobby, place to visit, song. 1. Food: This snack is my once or twice a year guilty pleasure. I used to devour mini donuts and drank pepsi like it was going out of style. I don't drink dark sodas much anymore and snack like I used to but when I do, I like to go back to this favorite.  Something about pastries and cola.  Definitely hell on the body but so good for the moment.
2. TV:  I cannot stand Disney tv.  I feel like an outcast when it comes to my friends because most of them love all things Disney. The one show that I absolutely love and did not miss when it was on the air was That's SO Raven.  I adore Raven Symone and she is just too silly. The show is just pure comedy to me.
3. Hobby: My closest friends know about my hidden talents but when people find out that I knit and crochet, I get called an old lady.  Thing is, this is something I turn to when I want to relax.  Something about the repetitive motions and creating something that puts me at ease.
4. Place to Visit: Chuck E Cheese gets me so nostalgic and takes me back to my childhood. I love the food and atmosphere and reverting back to being a kid.  I usually have dinner with my mom and sis for my birthday so I never really had a party as an adult.  My friends threw me my first birthday party in years and surprised me with Chuck E Cheese. It was the best celebration and I was glad to have shared it with them.  This spot will always be embedded in my memories and I plan to take my future children one day.
5. Song: I low-key love this Beyonce song (all versions of it).  I am not a huge fan of Beyonce but from time to time she gets me with a song.  This track catches me off guard all of the time. I cannot help but dance and sing along to it.

Friday Five: Boob Tube Obsessions

When I tell you Hulu Plus has been giving me my entire life lately I am not lying to you!  I don't normally watch television.  I don't even bother to have cable but ever since I got my Playstation 3, I have been hogging all of the tv/movie subscription apps on my PS3 and mobile devices. Hulu has given me the opportunity to catch shows that I kept hearing about and have been meaning to look at and also discover new ones.  Cable will be a thing of the past with these amazing apps.  I now present to you five shows that were new to me that I absolutely love:

The IT Crowd - The comedic adventures of a ragtag group of tech support workers at a large corporation.

The Mindy Project - A young Ob/Gyn doctor balances her personal and professional life, surrounded by quirky co-workers in a small office.

The New Normal - A single mother's life as she becomes a surrogate for a gay couple.

Go On - An irreverent yet charming sportscaster who, after a loss, finds solace from members of his mandatory group therapy sessions.

The Neighbors - A New Jersey family moves to an affluent gated community composed entirely of extraterrestrials.

Friday Five: Valentine's Day Desires

A lady can dream right?  I love thinking of interesting date ideas and such but deep down I am such a traditional girl.  I love picnics and candlelit dinners because I don't get that often so when I do, it is cherished.  With Valentine's day coming up, I have been coming across items that I would definitely love to add to my "date night" inventory.  Here are some  "must haves" in my opinion for this romantic holiday:

1. Vino To Go - This is a 10 oz. double walled, insulated, acrylic tumbler that comes with a lid and are BPA free.  They are usually sold in packs of two. I find these cups totally adorable and they would be so perfect for an outdoor picnic or a ladies night out poolside and such. Feeling fancy yet? Find it for sale here.

2. Personal Fondue Mugs - These are awesome for those nights when you want to "fondue" it but don't have the funds to hit up your local Melting Pot restaurant. They are microwave and dishwasher safe. Each set comes with two mugs and four skewer forks. Find it  for sale here.

3. Chocolate covered strawberries - These delicacies are always a nice staple to romantic holidays.  These can be bought at your local sweet shop but this year I plan to incorporate these into my day and make them myself.  They may not be a s fancy but they will get devoured.

4. Candles - What sets the mood better than candles?  You can either buy some votive candles with some fancy holders or you can get some flame-less leds and take some old candles and clean them out and do some fancy DIY magic to them.  Some examples: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

5. Good Food [preferably pasta] - Last but not least, good food. I don't know what it is about romantic dinners but pasta is definitely the way t my heart.  I fall in love with my cooking every day but when I really want to appreciate myself or spoil the one I love.... pasta is where it is at! I plan to make a cajun chicken or shrimp pasta on V-Day. Here's a good looking "three cheese chicken penne" copycat recipe to inspire some ideas.
